About this Course

This vibrant program has been carefully put together to demonstrate the necessary skills to carry out Supervisory and Leadership roles within the exciting, fast pace of the Hospitality industry.

Key Units

Through practical lessons in our renowned Silver Plate Restaurant and valuable theory lessons, you will learn the key elements of how to oversee others in a supervisory role. You will learn how to prepare table plans, action plans, event planning, health and safety monitoring and collection of customer data. You will, as a supervisor, lead and take part in training and mentoring others in table service, barista and bar skills .  

There are a number of units which make up this one year qualification:
  • Set objectives and provide support for team members
  • Develop working relationships with colleagues
  • Contribute to the control of resources
  • Maintain the health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment
  • Lead a team to improve customer service
  • Supervise function
  • Supervise food service
  • Support learning and development within own area of responsibility 

Entry Requirements

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Food and Drink Service or equivalent.

Assessment

Continuous assessment is carried out throughout the year by observation and underpinning knowledge. Each of the units carry some assignment work and testing, therefore, there will be a need for some homeworking.


You will take part in industry visits and attend events with external speakers to enrich your experience. There will be opportunities to compete in competitions and to take part in major events through our industry partners and sponsors locally and nationwide.

Where does this Lead

Upon completion of the study programme, learners could progress onto a level 4 NVQ Diploma in Hospitality Management Skills, or into employment.
