About this Course

Do you aspire to work in the creative industries? Do you have a passion for games design, photography and film-making? Then this Level 1 course will help you to start that journey by developing your creative potential. This exciting one-year study programme offers an opportunity for you to explore a number of creative disciplines; you will develop skills in Games Design, Photography and Film-making. These skills will allow you to develop a portfolio and aid your progression to one of our higher-level courses.

Key Units

This course is 70% practical and 30% theoretical; all vocational assignments are coursework-based assignments using research, idea development, concept work, final designs/products and evaluation.

Entry Requirements

For new applicants

For those who have not studied at the college before you will need one of the following:
  • 3 GCSEs at grade 2
  • English and Maths Functional Skills at Entry Level 2
  • BKSB IA Entry Level
For students progressing from Foundation Learning
  • Achievement of an Entry Level qualification
  • English & Maths Functional Skills at Entry Level 2
  • 85% attendance overall and for all individual study programme components (Main aim, English, Maths and Tutorial)

Assessment

Assessment for the Level 1 Certificate is coursework based, there are no exams.

Where does this Lead

The Faculty of Creative and Design offers courses in either Games Design, Photography or Creative Media Production at Level 2, so you can specialise after you have completed the Level 1 Certificate.

Future Opportunities

It is anticipated that upon completion of the Level 1 Certificate, you will progress on to one of our related Level 2 courses.


To further aid your progression, the faculty offers Level 3 and Higher Education courses in Games Design, Photography and Creative Media Production.
