About this Course

This qualification has been designed for the IT practitioner across themes predominant in the IT industry. Entry Requirements

Diploma

4 GCSEs grades A* - C / grade 4 or above (or acceptable alternatives), to include English Language and Maths no lower than a D/3.

Level 3 Extended Diploma

5 GCSEs grades A* - C / grade 4 or above (or acceptable alternatives), to include English Language and Maths.

You will also be expected to attend an information session and a taster day at college before you enroll.

Assessment

The course involves a combination of externally set and assessed exams, plus coursework and internal assessments.

You will also be required to study Functional Skills or GCSE English/Maths if you do not already hold a minimum of GCSE grade C/4. Many universities and employers ask for a minimum of GCSE grade C/4 in both Maths and English so it is important that you obtain these qualifications before progressing.

The college has recently invested in a LEGO Innovation Studio at City campus, where you may be introduced to robotics and have the opportunity to programme simple robots to develop your skills in control systems. This could help build your knowledge of the industry if you are interested in pursuing further education or employment within robotics.
