Enrolment 2018

Information and advice about when and how you need to come in and enrol for courses starting in September 2018

Enrolment 2017

What is enrolment?

Enrolment is when you come in to The Sheffield College to formally accept your place on the course you've applied for.

When do I need to come in to enrol?

That depends! If you've already applied for a course you should have been invited to an enrolment session in the next couple of weeks. However, if you haven't applied yet, you can still do so and come to one of our general enrolment sessions later in the summer.

If you've forgotten when your enrolment session is just click on one of the segments below to see the enrolment dates for that area.

What should I do if I can't attend my planned enrolment session?

If you have a genuine reason as to why you cannot attend your planned enrolment session, please email our Admissions team and let them know. They will advise on an alternative date when you can come in to enrol.

Where to go and what to bring with you

Where do I need to go?

Enrolment is happening across all of our campuses; you should have been informed which site to attend, or you can check where events are taking place by clicking on a segment above.

Directions to all of our campuses can be found here, just click on the relevant campus for directions and details about parking/public transport.

What do I need to bring with me to enrol?

You should have been informed of what you need to bring with you on the day, but as a guide we ask students to bring the following:

  • Photo ID
  • Contact details for your emergency contact (including phone number)
  • Any relevant exam certificates you hold
  • Method of payment for your chosen course (if payment is required)
  • Proof of any benefits you are currently receiving (if applicapble)
  • If you are an adult applying for a course at Level 2 or below, and are looking to secure some funding towards your course, please bring your last 3 pay slips with you

Getting your results

If you applied before the end of May 2018 and have been enroled at a Transition Event using your predicted grades, you should have been invited to a Welcome Session during the last week of August. When you attend this event please bring in your exam results so we can confirm your enrolment.

What to do if you didn't get the results you were predicted

First things first, don't panic! There's a very good chance you'll still be able to enrol onto the course you applied for, or a different level within the same area.

If you have been invited to a Welcome Event based on your predicted grades you should still attend this session, even if you're results aren't quite what you were expecting. Make sure you bring your results with you so we can confirm your enrolment.

What to do if you can't attend the Welcome Event

If you have a genuine reason why you cannot attend your planned welcome session please let our Admissions Team know as soon as possible. They will help you to find an alternative time when you can come in to confirm your place.

What about if I applied after May 2018?

If you've applied for a course after the end of May then you will be invited to attend Open Enrolment, which you should bring your exam results/certificates to, along with your other documentation.

What to do next

Once you've enroled it's worth checking you've got all the support you need to help you to succeed on your course. Whether that's help with buying supplies or equipment for your course, accessing childcare or additional learning support or just getting to your lessons.
