About Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Healthcare Employer Skills Academy
The Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Healthcare Employer Skills Academy has been designed to support students studying healthcare-related programmes by combining classroom learning with meaningful employer engagement. Developed in partnership with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the academy helps students gain a deeper understanding of the healthcare sector while developing the skills and knowledge required to work in professional healthcare environments.
Throughout their studies, students have the opportunity to take part in employer-led workshops, masterclasses and employability activities delivered by healthcare professionals. These experiences provide valuable insight into the realities of working within the NHS and help students develop the confidence, professionalism and workplace awareness needed to succeed in the sector.

Through site visits, simulation activities and engagement with healthcare practitioners, learners can explore the wide variety of roles available within the NHS and gain a clearer understanding of potential career pathways. The academy supports students in making informed decisions about their future while preparing them for employment, apprenticeships or further study within healthcare.
