Course overview

The Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Practice covers 7 units/components over the 2 years. Examples of units that you study on the course in the first and second year include: Year 1 Supervised Practice in Counselling Students will record and evaluate 100 hours of their own counselling practice, monitoring the development of their self-awareness as a result of clinical practice. Counselling Theory This component will provide students with the knowledge and understanding of the main approaches to counselling and the theorists that underpin most counselling practice. Year 2 Blended Practice This component will provide students with an understanding of working with clients using forms of communication other than traditional face-to-face ‘in the room’ working. Working with Anxiety This component will provide students with the skills, knowledge and understanding needed for this special area of practice. Students will consider the particular issues counsellors confront when working with clients who present with anxiety issues, and address how different counselling theories may affect both the process and outcome of counselling.
