Entry Requirements

This new and updated course requires all candidates to be practicing electricians. Candidates must hold one of the following and supply a copy on day one of the course.

  • 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment)
  • 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)
  • 5357 Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification
  • 2356 Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker
  • 2346 Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification
  • Other Awarding Organisations equivalences will also be acceptable
  • Equivalent historical qualifications

  • ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card

This 2 day course is aimed at qualified electricians or those with a good understanding of electrical principles and installation methods.

The first day of the course includes a full appraisal of the Current Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation. You will also have the opportunity to consider testing procedures on a rig. Candidates will be provided with example design calculations and various scenarios will be discussed. In particular the following will be covered:

Requirements relating to electric vehicle charging equipment.

Advantages and disadvantages of different types of electric vehicle charging arrangements and equipment.

Planning and preparation for design and installation of electric vehicle charging equipment.

Requirements for inspection, testing, commissioning and handover of electric vehicle charging equipment.

The last day includes one formal assessment which is an online exam.
