5 reasons why you should use UCAS Extra to apply to UC Sheffield

UCAS Extra is a free UCAS service that lets you apply for another university course if you've used all five choices and aren’t holding any offers. Open between 26th February and 1st July 2026, Extra gives you the chance to apply to one new course at a time where places are still available - ideal if your initial choices didn’t quite fit or you’ve simply changed direction.

Here’s a few reasons to spend your UCAS Extra choice on UC Sheffield!

1. A close knit, personalised university experience

At UC Sheffield we offer university-level qualifictions in a more intimate, close-knit environment. Students benefit from smaller class-sizes, more 1-2-1 tutor support and better access to resources whe compared to some of the bigger, more traditional universities - a huge advantage for anyone who's after a more community based environment.

2. Lower tuition fees and reduced student debt

One of UC Sheffield’s standout benefits is lower tuition fees, meaning you can gain the same degree-level qualification validated by leading universities (including Sheffield Hallam University and University of Hull) while keeping costs significantly more manageable.
