How to apply for school leavers’ qualifications if you still haven’t done so

Step 1: Find the right qualification for you

Whether you know exactly which study programme you’re looking for, or you’re open to a bit of exploration, the first step is to find a qualification you want to study. You can view all of our study programmes right here on our website, or if you’re after a bit of guidance and inspiration, why not have a look through our guide for 2023 courses.

Step 2: Submit your application

Once you’ve chosen a study programme, it’s time to apply! Hit the “Click to Apply” button on the course page, this should take you through to our applications portal, Prospect. You’ll be prompted to create a new account (or log in if you’ve used the system before) before completing an application form.

Make sure that you include the correct email and phone number in case our Admissions Team need to reach you about your application.

Step 3: Complete pre-enrolment

Once our Admissions Team have processed your application, you’ll be invited to attend an enrolment appointment during the first week of September. They will also send you some information on how to complete your pre-enrolment details on Prospect.

If you are planning to be on holiday, or can’t make you appointment for any other reason, please make sure to contact the Admissions Team to arrange an alternative time and date!

Step 4: Attend your enrolment appointment

Enrolment is the process where we get you formally entered into our system and issued with your college ID card! You can read more about what the enrolment process involves here.

When you come to your appointment, make sure to bring with you:

  • proof of ID
  • proof of exam results
  • student support evidence (such as proof of benefits)

Once you’ve collected your student card, congratulations! You’re officially a student at The Sheffield College.

Step 5: Come in for your Induction Session

When you come in to enrol, you’ll be given the date and time of your induction session so you know when your first day in college will be. Make sure you get this information before you leave!

During Induction Week you’ll get to familiarise yourself with your campus, access your timetable and meet your classmates and Tutorial Mentor.
