Careers advice service

The Careers Advice Team at The Sheffield College offer free and informed careers education, information, advice and guidance to all students. The team works across the college and offers support at all sites.

Our experienced Careers IAG Advisers are fully qualified (up to Level 6 and 7) in providing expert and impartial advice and guidance. Students can book confidential one-to-one appointments to look at all of their progression options, including:

  • University
  • Apprenticeships
  • Employment

With the support of an advisor, students will create a personalised careers action plan with SMART targets, intended to motivate and support students in their journey to a dream career. Ongoing support is available throughout the various stages of career planning and decision making. 

Throughout the year the team delivers a comprehensive and engaging careers programme of workshops and talks, utilising current labour market information so that the information you receive is as up to date as possible. Subject specific careers education is also provided through tailored tutorials within students' study programmes.

The Careers Team are Matrix accredited and hold a nationally recognised Quality in Careers Standard award. They are committed to continuously achieving all eight of the Gatsby Benchmarks for good careers guidance

The Careers Leader for the college is Sarah Kettlewell (Head of Student Participation & Careers), who is a Level 7 qualified careers practitioner. The college’s CEIAG policy is reviewed every 2 years and can be accessed here.
