Class of 2025 celebrate academic, technical and vocational results

The class of 2025 have completed a wide range of qualifications at Level 3 including A Levels, BTECs and T Levels.

This year’s college leavers are progressing to apprenticeships, employment and university. The key highlights for 2025 include:

  • 98% of Level 3 technical and vocational students who sat their final exams or assessments have successfully passed their qualification.
  • Among those studying qualifications with graded outcomes, 32% achieved at least one distinction in their final grades and 15% achieved a distinction star (D*) - the highest grade possible.
  • The college’s first cohort of T Level students have completed their qualifications.
  • The number of high A Level grades A* to B has risen from 12% to 17% while A* to C grades have increased from 32% to 41%.
  • There was a 100% pass rate for A Level biology, English literature, film, fine art, geography and photography.
  • Students are progressing to institutions including Manchester Metropolitan University and Newcastle University, as well as the University of Leicester, University of Sheffield, University of London and University of Westminster.

Angela Foulkes CBE, Chief Executive and Principal, The Sheffield College, said: “I am immensely proud of our students and their hard work over the last two years. I’d like to wish them every success with their future careers and thank our staff for their hard work, support and guidance.”

Ellie Foster, 18, has completed three A Levels in psychology, history and English literature achieving grades A*, A and A. Ellie, who is going to study history and English literature at the University of Sheffield, said: “I feel incredible. It’s a very good feeling to receive these results.

“I would love to thank all of my teachers who have helped me, not only in my academic development, but also to cope with A Levels making college a far better experience. I’ve made some amazing friends and the teachers are truly incredible.”

Mayon Kamarah, 18, has completed three A Levels in English language, English literature and film studies achieving grades B, B and B. Mayon, who is going to the University of Leicester to study journalism and English, said: “My teachers were really supportive. I am looking forward to the next phase.”

Alyssia Broadhead, 18, achieved two distinctions stars and a distinction in the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Uniformed Public Services. Alyssia, who is set to study youth and community work at Cardiff Metropolitan University, said: “I feel great about my results. I never thought that I would be able to go to university. I didn’t think that I was smart enough.

“I owe a big ‘thank you’ to the college staff for supporting me to achieve. I really enjoyed the course as it prepares you for real life situations. We did teamwork and problem solving exercises, including mock incident simulations, which will help you whatever job you go into in future.”

Monty Campbell, 18, achieved a merit in the T Level in Digital Support Service, and is among the first cohort of T Level students to finish their two-year programme.

As part of the T Level, Monty completed a work placement with FluidOne, an IT and cybersecurity company in Sheffield. “I really like the hands on way of learning,” said Monty, who has secured a place at Leeds Beckett University to study cybersecurity and digital forensics.

“I especially loved the work placement as you also get to see how an office operates, which helps you to develop your confidence and employability skills.”

Holly Smith, 21, has completed a BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Animal Care and achieved a distinction. Holly, who now works at the college as an animal technician, said: “I am very happy with my results as I worked really hard to get a distinction.

“The best bit of my course was gaining hands on experience with animals that I had never worked with before such as our skunk, millipedes, tree frogs and geckos.

“I will be helping the animal care team to support and teach new students as well as caring for the animals that I already know and love on campus. My course taught me so much about the career paths and skills required to excel in the animal industry.”
