Enrolment at The Sheffield College 2026/2027 – FAQs
Updated: 18.08.26
If you’ve applied to study at The Sheffield College this September and you’ve received your offer, take a look below to find out the answers to all your questions about enrolling as an official student here.
What is enrolment?
Enrolment is the process of confirming and finalising your place as an official student at The Sheffield College. Enrolment takes place between August and September, depending on the study programme you have an offer for. You will have received an email including the date and time of your enrolment appointment. It’s important that you attend this appointment no matter what results you get.
What does the enrolment process involve?
First and foremost, enrolment involves checking that you’ve signed up to the most appropriate study programme, depending on what you want to study and the grades you’ve achieved. We’ll also complete some other administrative checks to help you get ready for your first day at college. There are four simple steps to enrolment:
- Pre-enrolment, through the Prospect portal
- Enrolment appointment confirmation
- Grades check and induction information at your enrolment appointment
- Support check at your enrolment appointment
What happens if I don’t get the grades I need for my chosen course?
The most important thing is not to worry, as we will be able to help you. Attend your enrolment appointment as planned, and as part of the process, we will discuss an alternative starting point with you for your chosen career path. We are also able to offer information, advice and guidance to help you consider different options.
What should I do first?
New students holding an offer to study with us:
Once you have been made an offer of study, you will be directed to complete pre-enrolment online. Your pre-enrolment will be completed through the Prospect portal.
If you need any support completing the questions, we’re here to help. Please contact admissions@sheffcol.ac.uk to access support.
You will also be given a date and time to come into college to finalise your enrolment. This will be the final step of the process where staff will check your grades, provide you with your induction information, and print your student ID card, making you an official student at The Sheffield College.
Please be sure to attend your allotted enrolment appointment as this helps us to keep things running smoothly. If you are unable to attend your appointment for any reason, please contact the Admissions Team on admissions@sheffcol.ac.uk
Returning or progressing students:
If you have studied with us before and are returning this year to study a different subject, you will still need to complete your pre-enrolment online via the Prospect portal.
Once your tutor has confirmed your enrolment, you can log back into the Prospect portal to complete your digital signature.
If you are unable to complete this online, you will be invited to our City or Hillsborough campus over the summer.
Please note: adult learners (19+) need to come onto campus to complete their enrolment and will be sent an appointment time to come in and do so.
If you have not been contacted or are unable to make your enrolment date given, please contact our Admissions Team on admissions@sheffcol.ac.uk to arrange an alternative.
What do I need to bring to enrolment?
When the time comes to attend your enrolment appointment, please bring:
- Proof of ID
- Proof of your results
- Student support evidence if required (e.g. proof of any benefits you receive or details of childcare arrangements)
- Method of payment (where appropriate)
