All three days of strikes that were due to take place at The Sheffield College this week by members of the University and College Union (UCU) have been cancelled.
UCU members were planning to strike at the college, as part of action affecting a number of colleges nationally, on the following three days:
Earlier this week, UCU confirmed that industrial action has been cancelled for two of those days - Wednesday 14th January 2026 and Thursday 15th January 2026.
Now, the third strike due to take place on Friday 16th January 2026 has also been called off following UCU consulting with their members.
Paul Simpson, Executive Director for People, The Sheffield College, said: “We welcome the resolution to this dispute, which we were committed to achieving.
“We have worked constructively with UCU to reach an outcome that supports our staff, students and the wider college. I would like to thank all of our staff for their patience and professionalism during this period.”
All campuses and services will be open as usual on Friday 16th January 2026 except for Bloom provision which, as previously communicated, will be closed on that day.
