Holly Smith

Here's why Holly was nominated by her tutor:

Holly has embedded not only the college’s but animal care values since she started with us this year. She has excelled in her course, completing coursework and exams with care and passion.

She has developed her animal skillset, working with a range of species and was the first student to be able to hold and care for our new resident the skunk. She attends college every week for her lessons, but also completes an extra day onsite in her own time to aid the animal care staff in completion of husbandry tasks, routine maintenance and has even designed and painted a new house for the skunk!

Holly continually works hard both in and out of lessons, she is completing a work placement at the cat shelter alongside everything else she is doing internally in college. Holly maintains a high professional standard within her work and also her animal care occupational skills, always learning and striving to achieve the best. She was even successful on getting a place to be on the Yorkshire Vet TV show alongside Julian Norton! She is a pleasure to teach and I will be sad to see her leave us this year to go onto university!
