Liss has been an excellent advocate for FREDIE+ values in the college this year. She was elected the Students' Union Womens' Officer back in the autumn term, and has consistently and passionately used this role to support and uplift other students ever since.
Through her role as an SU Officer, she has led and helped the SU President lead on various projects, such as a mental health awareness campaign, for which she created minigames for students to take part in where they could match definitions on a stall to win prizes. She was keen to make sure that this game was inclusive and could act as a learning opportunity to all students regardless of age or level of study.
She has also been a Student Rep for her study programme, attending reps forums and conferences, where she has been committed to making sure her fellow adult learners' voices are heard at both academy and college-wide levels. As part of these, she contributed to discussions around the new college strategy, accessibility and facilities at Hillsborough campus, and the support on offer for (especially adult) learners. Liss also has been a huge supporter of the ongoing free period product scheme in college, committing time each week to go around Hillsborough campus topping up the period product dispensers, and spreading the word about the scheme.
Throughout all of the work Liss has done in college in addition to her study programme, she has truly championed all students, and had great positive impact. This isn't even everything she has been involved in this year - she is a credit to the college and FREDIE+ values in action!
