About this Course

This is a practical qualification that will equip you with the knowledge and skills to work within the barbering industry.

Key Units

This is qualification will provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently in the barbering industry.

All aspects of practical work are carried out in a closely simulated industrial environment on clients.

As part of your Level 2 Certificate in Barbering qualification, you will study the following core and specialist units:

  • Cut hair using barbering techniques
  • Client consultation for hair services
  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Cut facial hair

You will also be given the opportunity to take part in hairdressing competitions, live projects with employers and hairdressing design skills, manufacturer's courses and visits to trade shows.

Entry Requirements

3 GCSE's at Grade 4 working towards either Maths / English.

The ideal candidate will be a good communicator and listener with excellent social skills, demonstrate a degree of artistic skills and flair, be highly dexterous, friendly and have physical stamina. 

If you don't have the above requirements, please consider studying our Level 1 Hair and Beauty before progressing onto this qualification.

Assessment

This will comprise of:

  • Practical Assessments
  • Exams
  • Assignments

Internal online exams will be taken periodically throughout the course for the mandatory units.

Practical skills will be assessed after training and practice, competence of practical skills will be demonstrated by graded summative assessments. You will be required to work on real clients.

Future Opportunities

This qualification is designed for people who wish to develop a career in Barbering. Successful students progress onto NVQ Level 3 or an Advanced Apprenticeship.
