A practical introduction to working with plants, animals, and the land.

Horticulture Level 2
Learn how to grow and care for plants, maintain green spaces, and use tools and machinery.

For this course, the interview process for the includes an information session followed by a 1:1 chat with a tutor. During the information session, you will receive important details about the course structure and expectations, along with a chance to ask any questions. This is crucial to ensure you understand the course fully and how it aligns with your goals. 

Will this course suit me? 
You should be practically minded, like working outdoors in all seasons and able to do some study in your own time. You need to be able to undertake a range of horticultural tasks including lifting and moving, ground preparation and planting.

The college offers excellent facilities to support your learning, including our very own automated glasshouses and polytunnels, interactive learning environments, and access to industry-standard resources.? 

Course enrichment? 
You will have the opportunity to engage in various enrichment activities such as industry visits, guest speaker sessions and workshops. 

Extra Costs

Some visits will take place, and you will be expected to have steel toe cap boots or wellingtons and overalls/waterproof clothing. For practical sessions you will need suitable work gloves. 

Where offsite visits take place, you will be expected to contribute to the cost of entry and travel where applicable.  

Students who are eligible can apply for the?Student Support Fund to help with course costs.
