Key Units

Plumbing Level 1 
On this qualification, you will develop skills in installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, and have the opportunity to learn about some of the key components of plumbing. The practical skills and theoretical knowledge you gain will help you to prepare for the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing. 

Plumbing Level 2 
This qualification will allow you to develop existing skills and give you the underpinning knowledge required to develop a wide range of plumbing skills including installation, commissioning and maintenance. You will also build your knowledge and skills in areas such as hot water supplied and central heating systems. 

T Level Plumbing and Heating Engineer 
During this level three, two-year qualification, students will study units from digital engineering to the sustainable impact of construction alongside undertaking a 45-day Industry Placement to set them up for success in their future workplace. 

Entry Requirements

Plumbing Level 1 
4 GCSEs grade 2 or above to include English Language, Maths and Science 

Plumbing Level 2 
Progression from Level 1 only 

T Level Plumbing and Heating Engineer 
5 GCSEs grade 5 or above to include English Language, Maths and Science

  • 80% of the course is classroom learning and 20% is work-based learning

Where does this Lead

After starting at Level 1 or 2, you can progress to advanced plumbing qualifications, gas engineering or building services. Many students move on to higher technical qualifications (HNC/HND), Degree Apprenticeships, or university-level study in building services engineering. 

You can also go straight into employment as an Apprentice or trainee. 

Future Opportunities

A career in carpentry and joinery can take you in many directions, including: 
  • Domestic or commercial plumber 
  • Heating and ventilation engineer 
  • Gas engineer (with further training) 
  • Building services technician 
  • Project or site supervisor 
  • Self-employed plumbing contractor

Extra Costs

For this course you will be required to buy PPE college work wear. You will need to bring your own overalls and safety boots for workshop sessions as a minimum requirement. 

All other safety equipment will be provided on an as and when needed basis.
