About this Course

T Levels are the new technical qualifications that are equivalent to 3 A Levels but include an industry placement of at least 315 hours. This course provides an exciting opportunity to understand the financial markets and banking systems structures. Developed by financial and educational experts, the T Level Finance – Retail and Commercial Banking qualification will help you develop core competences and skills that are required in the financial sector.

Key Units

In your first year, you will study the fundamentals and principles of business and how they are applied in the financial sector. Such as the purpose of business activity, the role of entrepreneurship, understanding how markets work and the contribution of finance in supporting business, etc.

In your second year, you will study occupational specialism, covering topics such as the structure of the financial services industry, products and finance markets, advice, global finances, professionalism and ethics, etc.

This course enables you to understand the vital role of finance in the business world, preparing you for careers in the retail and commercial banking sector.

A T Level qualification is equivalent to 3 A levels. You will spend 80% of your time in college learning about your chosen subject, and 20% of their time working in an industry placement - which is at least 315 hours (45 days) - where you will put what you have learnt into practice

Topics studies will include: 
The business environment: including the purpose of business to meet consumer demands, how business is structured, how finance contributes to business success, the role of markets, product and service innovation, entrepreneurship and the global business environment

Careers within the finance and accounting professions: including the fundamentals of financial accounting, regulation, decision making, global money, markets, costs and profits

Professionalism and ethics: Security and risks for business, legal and ethical considerations,

Fundamentals of law, Fundamentals of financial accounting, Data driven innovation/analytics and design thinking, and the financial services sector

Entry Requirements

GCSE grade 5 in Maths, English, and three additional subjects.

As this is a two-year study programme you must be aged 16 to18 to enrol on this course.

Currently T Level courses are only funded for learners who are under the age of 19 at the point of enrolment

Assessment

Core component: Paper A written examination, Paper B written examination, Employer-set project 

Occupational specialism component: Synoptic assignments

Where does this Lead

Students can progress to level 4 (University courses), employment within the financial services and banking professions, or apprenticeships
