About this Course

This course is a training programme leading to becoming a registered Pharmacy Technician. Upon successful completion of the qualification you will be required to register with The General Pharmaceutical Council. Enrolment is offered at various points throughout the year (January, June, September) meaning you can begin the apprenticeship at a convenient time.

Key Units

  • You will study a wide range of related units including: Chemistry, Biology and Microbiology for Pharmacy. 
  • You will learn about Human Physiology and the action and uses of medicines.
  • Some Units will focus on Community Pharmacy practice and you will cover the dispensing and supply of medicines including Aseptic.
  • You will also study the law, ethics and practice relating to pharmacy.

Entry Requirements

4 or more GCSEs to include Maths, English, and 1 Science at grades 4/C or above

You will also need to gain a suitable employer.

Future Opportunities

You will be eligible to register as a qualified Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council and apply for Pharmacy Technician posts in the Hospital.
