About this Course

Validated by The University of Hull, this exciting full time course offers a practical focus on Dental Technology; allowing students to develop specialist skills in depth, whilst also gaining a broad, contextual understanding of the profession. Studied over two years (full-time), students will focus on the basic professional and practical skills required for success in the professions (such as basic anatomy for dentistry, public health and legislation) in the first year, then develop their theoretical knowledge and technical abilities (focusing on dental technology skills in a variety of areas) during the second year.

Entry Requirements

  • 96 UCAS points from 3 A Levels
Please note that students with a BTEC grade of MMM or MMP will also be considered on the basis of a strong personal statement and interview.

This exciting qualification offers a practical focus to Dental Technology, allowing students to develop specialist skills in depth whilst also gaining a broad, contextual understanding of the profession. Using a variety of techniques including workshops, seminars and guest lecturers, industry experts are collaboratively involved in the programme. The course encourages the development of practical skills in specialist areas including Complete/Partial Removable Prosthodontics, Fixed Restorative Prosthodontics and Orthodontics.


Level 4 (Year 1) will focus on academic, professional and basic practical skills necessary for success in the profession. Level 5 (Year 2) develops experience and further professional understanding in the manufacturing techniques and theoretical practices required.

Both years of the course are comprised of two semesters. In Semester 1 (September to January) students will study 8 modules ranging from 10 to 20 credits. In Semester 2 (January to May) students will study 6 modules, all 20 credit modules with the exception of Dental Technology Techniques – Removable Prosthesis and Orthodontics, which is a 40 credit module.

Extra Costs

Approximate costs for a HE course is between £7500 and £8000. You can apply for a loan via Student Finance Student finance. Please note all quoted fees are subject to change.

Equipment
Students will be expected to obtain appropriate PPE and a dental toolkit, which is expected to cost somewhere around £330.
