Key Units

Pathway to Independent Living
The Pathway to Independent Living is designed for individuals who would benefit from learning and further developing the skills that will prepare them for their future and adult life. It is designed around the Preparation for Adulthood Agenda and will take 1–2 years to complete. The intent of this pathway is to support individuals to develop their skills in independence and self-care, confidence and communicating with others. English and maths is delivered to all individuals on the pathway through mixed delivery of discrete sessions and through embedded activities. Some individuals will work towards an accredited English and Maths Functional Skills qualification from Entry Level 1.

Pathway to Personal Progress
The Pathway to Personal Progress has been designed as a supported first step to post-16 education and into a college setting. It will take 1–2 years to complete. The objective of this pathway is to recognise personal growth and engagement in learning. It will address the needs of individuals working at Entry 1 or below, in particular those individuals with learning difficulties and disabilities. Each qualification within the Pathway to Personal Progress ensures that all individuals are given the same opportunities to access appropriate and relevant education to improve their life chances.

Supported Internship
The Internship Pathway: Supported Internship has been designed for individuals with an EHCP who need support to progress into employment after post-16 education. This pathway is a structured, work-based programme providing a substantial work placement, facilitated by a Job Coach and Work-Based Tutor, and is supported by a curriculum focused around employability. It will take one year to complete. The intern will spend around 70% of their time in the workplace and will be supported to develop the skills valued by employers, demonstrate their skills in the workplace and develop their confidence for future job roles.

Supported Pathway to Work
The Pathway to Supported Workskills – Supported Workskills is designed for individuals who would benefit from learning and further developing the skills that will prepare them for their future and adult life, specifically work. It is designed around the Preparation for Adulthood Agenda and  will take 1–2 years to complete. This pathway is suitable for individuals who are ready to undertake a supported work placement outside of the college. English and maths is delivered to all individuals on the pathway through  mixed delivery of discrete sessions and through embedded activities. Some individuals will work towards an accredited English and Maths Functional Skills qualification from Entry Level 1.

Skills for Living and Work
The Internship Pathway: Skills for Living and Work has been designed for individuals who are preparing for the transition from post-16 education into adulthood. Its intent is to provide a stepping-stone to a Supported Internship or to provide skills for independence and work. It is suitable for individuals who are ready to undertake a supported work placement outside of the college. Some individuals may still be required to undertake discrete English and maths sessions and work towards assessments, where appropriate. This pathway takes 1–2 years to complete.
