About this Course

In this qualification you will cover higher accounting tasks including drafting financial statements, managing budgets and evaluating financial performance, as well as a range of optional specialist units. On successful completion of this course, you will be awarded an AAT Level 4 Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians. This internationally recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification enables those working in accounting or those looking to pursue accountancy as a career to gain knowledge, practical experience and the all-important certification often sought by employers.

Key units:
  • Financial Accounting
This unit provides students with the skills and understanding for drafting the financial statements of single limited companies. 

Percentage contribution of this unit to the overall qualification grade: 25%.

  • Management Accounting
This unit encompasses the key areas of planning, control, decision making and liquidity management. 

Percentage contribution of this unit to the overall qualification grade: 25%.

  • Audit and Internal Controls
This unit teaches students about the role and importance of internal controls within an organisation and also provides the tools to identify fraud risks and assess how internal controls can be used to mitigate those risks. 

Percentage contribution of this unit to the overall qualification grade: 15%.

  • Principles of Taxation
This unit introduces students to taxation for taxpayers in the UK. It introduces students to the different types of income that a UK taxpayer may have, including from employment, self-employment, property and investments. 

Percentage contribution of this unit to the overall qualification grade: 15%.

  • Advanced Business Awareness
This unit prepares students for real-world challenges and opportunities in the business environment, enhancing their employability and professional growth. By understanding complex business concepts and practices, students will be able to make informed decisions, improve organisational effectiveness, and contribute to sustainable business practices. 

Percentage contribution of this unit to the overall qualification grade: 20%.

Entry Requirements

You must have a sound knowledge of accounting principles to undertake the AAT Level 4 programme. Achievement of an AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting is essential.

Assessment

This course is assessed through computer-based exams for each unit. 

Future Opportunities

The Diploma in Professional Accounting can lead to the achievement of professional AAT (MAAT) status.

The accountancy skills developed by studying this qualification will enable you to seek employment with confidence, and/or to progress to study chartered accountancy.

Extra Costs

The full fee for this course is approximately £2573.
Please note: all quoted fees are subject to change.

If an employer is paying for a student to take the qualification then they must provide a letter with letterhead from the employer stating their intention to pay for the tuition fees.

All learners will be faced with a mandatory AAT membership fee of £258 which is not included in the cost of the course.

The approximate cost of the booklist is £150.
