"Sophia is definitely a standout student, who in her own quietly confident way, has surpassed all expectations whilst managing her own personal issues and demonstrating resilience. Sophia is self-assured, composed and serene like. A high achiever who has clearly dedicated time, commitment and enthusiasm to her studies. Whilst undertaking placement with the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Sophia has developed skills, knowledge and a understanding of the role and responsibilities required of a healthcare professional.
Sophia is a very pro-active student, when attending Academy sessions at the University of Sheffield, this is an observation made by the clinical educators. Sophia was also selected to be part of a project that spent time in Figi looking at a mix of medical healthcare facilities. This experience allowed Sophia to identify drawbacks including limited healthcare facilities. Sophia was a great asset to the team by supporting her peers, when being far from home and family became difficult, using her ability to reassure and comfort will enhance her career objective of becoming a midwife. Sophia is a great Ambassador to the Academy, always on point at open evenings, communicating professionally and at ease with parents and prospective students.
Sophia has worked extremely hard to meet her career objectives and this is clearly shown in the offers she has received to study Midwifery at university, a very well deserved outcome. This award would definitely be excellent recognition for what can be achieved with hard work and determination, which Sophia has proved consistently over the two year programme."
